Mintex Racing F2R Carbon-Metallic Sprint and Endurance Race Pads
F2R overview
F2R is a NASCAR-bred carbon-metallic pad with high torque and none of the snatch. It was formulated for fast, powerful cars that make their grip mechanically rather than through downforce, and it is one of the most widely used F Series compounds in saloon and GT racing.
A long, readable threshold
Instead of hitting hard at the top of the pedal, F2R builds torque progressively, which gives a wide band between first contact and wheel lock. Drivers who trail-brake deep into the apex gravitate to it for that reason. Once up to temperature it sits at around 0.52μ and holds there, with a flat curve from 100°C to 500°C.
Typical F2R applications
Track days, saloon and sedan racing, single seaters, GT and TCR racing, and sprint and short-endurance formats where a set has to last a weekend. Pad life and disc finish are both excellent for a material with this much torque.
Is F2R suitable for endurance racing?
It is common in sprint and short-endurance events thanks to its pad life and disc finish. For long endurance stints on heavy cars, compare it with MRM1805, which adds mechanical retention and a thermal underlayer.
How does F2R compare with F4R?
F2R rolls into its torque progressively; F4R bites hard immediately. Choose F2R for feel and trail-braking on mechanically gripped cars, and F4R for heavy cars, very grippy tyres or small discs that need torque instantly.
