Ferodo Racing FRF340 Racing Brake Fluid 500ml – 339°C Dry Boiling Point Glycol Ether Fluid for Motorsport Brake and Clutch Systems
Ferodo Racing FRF340 is Ferodo's highest-temperature brake fluid, built purely for competition. It has a typical dry boiling point of 339°C (335°C minimum spec) and a typical wet boiling point of 199°C. That gives racing teams extra thermal margin when repeated heavy stops, big-grip tyres and high-friction pads push brake temperatures beyond what conventional fluids can handle.
FRF340 is based on glycol ether with performance additives, so it's compatible with brake and clutch systems designed for conventional glycol-ether fluids, including ABS. It resists vapour lock and the soft, long pedal that comes with boiled fluid. Its corrosion-inhibiting additives also protect calipers, master cylinders and hard lines from internal wear.
FRF340 is designed for circuit racing, endurance events, hillclimbs, sprints and rallying, where fluid is bled regularly and brake temperatures are extreme. It's the step up from Ferodo's Super Formula for teams that need the highest possible dry boiling point.
Key Features
-
339°C typical dry boiling point (335°C minimum spec). This is the highest in Ferodo's fluid range, and it resists vapour lock under sustained heavy braking.
-
199°C typical wet boiling point (195°C minimum spec), so it holds up well as the fluid absorbs moisture.
-
Glycol ether base, compatible with conventional glycol-based brake and clutch hydraulics.
-
ABS compatible, for consistent pressure modulation under hard braking.
-
Low corrosive activity: inhibitors protect metal components inside the braking system.
-
Suitable for brake and clutch systems in competition vehicles.
- Supplied in a sealed 500ml bottle.

Please Note: Motorsport Use Only
FRF340 is formulated for maximum boiling point rather than cold-weather flow. Its viscosity at -40°C is higher than the DOT 4 limit of 1800 cSt, so Ferodo recommends it for motorsport use only. For a fluid that works on both the road and the track, see Ferodo Racing Super Formula (FSF050), which meets the DOT 4 specification.
What is the difference between FRF340 and Ferodo Super Formula?
FRF340 has the higher dry boiling point: 339°C typical, compared with 327°C for Super Formula. That makes it the choice for the most thermally demanding race applications. Super Formula has a slightly higher wet boiling point and lower cold viscosity, and it meets the DOT 4 specification, so it's suitable for both road and track. If your car is driven on the road, choose Super Formula. If it's a dedicated competition car that is bled regularly, FRF340 gives you the most heat headroom.
Can I use FRF340 on the road?
FRF340 is recommended for motorsport use only. Its high viscosity in very cold conditions puts it outside the DOT 4 specification, so it shouldn't be used in road vehicles that require a DOT-rated fluid.
Can I mix FRF340 with my current brake fluid?
FRF340 is glycol ether based, so it's compatible with systems that use conventional glycol-based DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 fluids. However, any old fluid left in the system will lower the boiling point, so fully flush the old fluid out to get FRF340's full performance. Never mix it with silicone-based DOT 5 fluid.
Is FRF340 compatible with ABS?
Yes. FRF340 is formulated to work with ABS, keeping pressure modulation consistent without foaming or cavitation during hard braking.
Can FRF340 be used in a hydraulic clutch?
Yes. It's suitable for both the brake and clutch hydraulics of competition vehicles that use glycol-based fluid.
How often should I change it?
Like all glycol-based fluids, FRF340 absorbs moisture over time, which gradually lowers its boiling point. In racing, it's common practice to bleed the brakes before every event, and after any session where the brakes ran particularly hot. Replace the fluid completely at least once a season, or more often in endurance racing.
How much do I need?
A full flush on most cars uses around 1 litre (two bottles). Race cars with twin master cylinders, remote reservoirs or a hydraulic handbrake may need more. Keep a sealed spare bottle in the paddock for bleeding between sessions.
How should I store an opened bottle?
Keep the cap tightly closed and store the bottle upright in a cool, dry place. Once opened, it starts absorbing moisture from the air, so use it promptly. For critical events, use a freshly opened bottle.
Will it damage paintwork?
Yes. Like all glycol-based brake fluids, FRF340 will damage paint and some plastics. Protect painted surfaces when bleeding the brakes, wipe up spills immediately and rinse the area with plenty of water. Brake systems should only be serviced by competent mechanics.
