F4R is a high-metallic composite blended with carbon particles, and it is engineered to bite hard the moment the pedal moves. That makes it the natural choice where the chassis is heavy, the tyres are very grippy or the disc and pad are small relative to the car: situations where a progressive pad simply cannot generate enough torque quickly enough.
Nominal friction is around 0.50µ, marginally below F2R, but the curve is flat and predictable across the whole 100-500°C window and the compound is famously resistant to fade at extreme temperature. It also beds in unusually quickly, so a fresh set can go on the morning of an event without a dedicated bedding session.
