Mintex Racing is the motorsport division of Mintex, the British brake brand with more than a century of friction-material experience. The Mintex Racing compound range
The range splits into four families. MRM1801 FR is the road-legal fast road pad. The M Series (M1144, M1155, M1166) are the long-established club compounds. The MRM Series (MRM1802, MRM1805) are the current copper-free materials with a thermal underlayer. The F Series (F2R, F3R, F4R, F6R) are high-torque, high-temperature racing pads for cars on racing brake systems or sticky tyres.
Choosing between the M Series, MRM Series and F Series
Pick by grip and heat. Lightweight cars, road tyres and short events suit the medium-torque M1144, M1155 or MRM1802, which all work from cold. Heavier or higher-grip cars that build real brake temperature need MRM1805, M1166 or an F Series pad. Rear axles and loose surfaces usually want the gentler F6R or M1155 so the car stays balanced under braking.
Fitment and caliper coverage
Mintex Racing pads are available for OEM calipers from Teves, Lucas, Girling, Brembo, Akebono, Sumitomo, TRW, Bosch, Bendix and Lockheed, and for AP Racing and Brembo racing brake systems. Which Mintex Racing brake pad compound do I need?
For road use with occasional track days choose MRM1801 FR. For club track days, sprints and hill climbs choose M1144 or its copper-free successor MRM1802. For heavy or high-grip race cars that generate serious brake heat choose MRM1805 or the F Series. For loose surfaces and easy-to-lock rear axles choose F6R or M1155. Are Mintex Racing brake pads road legal?
Only MRM1801 FR is road legal. It is ECE R90 approved, which means it has been tested to the same standard as original-equipment pads. Every other compound in the range is a competition material intended for motorsport and track use only.
Do I need different Mintex Racing pads front and rear?
Often, yes. Most race cars run a higher-torque pad on the front axle and a lower-torque pad on the rear to keep the brake balance stable and stop the rear locking. F6R and M1155 are commonly used as rear pads behind an F2R, F4R or MRM1805 front. Each listing states whether the pad is a front or rear fitment.
How do I bed in Mintex Racing brake pads?
Bed the pads with a series of progressively harder stops from moderate speed without coming to a complete halt, then let the brakes cool fully before hard use.
